“When He entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, ‘Who is this?’”
— Gospel of Matthew 21:10
That question did not end in Jerusalem.
It echoes through Scripture.
It echoes through history.
It echoes into your life.
Who is this?
Who Is This… Before Creation?
Before Bethlehem.
Before the prophets.
Before time itself.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth… and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”
— Book of Genesis 1:1–2
And then…
“God said…”
There is a mystery here:
- God speaks
- The Spirit moves
And in the fullness of revelation, we come to understand:
“In the beginning was the Word… and the Word was God… all things were made through Him.”
— Gospel of John 1:1–3
Who is this?
He is the eternal Word.
He is not created.
He is the One through whom all things exist.
Who Is This… in the Promise?
God does not remain silent.
He speaks through the prophets—clearly, powerfully, consistently.
Who is this?
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given…
and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
— Book of Isaiah 9:6
This is no ordinary child.
He is:
- Mighty God
- Prince of Peace
- The One who will reign forever
And again:
“But you, O Bethlehem… from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days.”
— Book of Micah 5:2
Born in Bethlehem…
Yet from ancient days.
And then the suffering servant:
“He was pierced for our transgressions…
upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with His wounds we are healed.”
— Book of Isaiah 53:5
Who is this?
He is:
- The promised King
- The eternal One
- The suffering Savior
Who Is This… at His Coming?
Then heaven speaks.
“You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
— Gospel of Matthew 1:21
Spoken by Angel Gabriel
And again:
“He will be great… and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
— Gospel of Luke 1:32–33
Who is this?
He is:
- Jesus — which means “God saves”
- The One whose kingdom will never end
- The One sent to rescue humanity
Who Is This… in His Life?
He walks among us.
And everywhere He goes, the question rises again:
Who is this?
“What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
— Gospel of Matthew 8:27
“This, the first of His signs, Jesus did at Cana… and His disciples believed in Him.”
— Gospel of John 2:11
“Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
— Gospel of Mark 2:7
Who is this?
He is:
- The One who commands creation
- The One who transforms lives
- The One who forgives sins
He is not just sent by God.
He is God among us.
Who Is This… Revealed by the Apostles?
After walking with Him… after seeing everything…
The apostles begin to understand.
“He is the image of the invisible God…
all things were created through Him and for Him…
in Him all things hold together.”
— Letter to the Colossians 1:15–17
And then:
“Though He was in the form of God…
He emptied Himself…
becoming obedient unto death—even death on a cross.”
— Letter to the Philippians 2:6–8
And because of this:
“God has highly exalted Him…
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
— Letter to the Philippians 2:9–11
Who is this?
He is:
- The image of the invisible God
- The One who holds all things together
- The humbled King… now exalted forever
Who Is This… on the Cross?
Now everything is revealed.
No more questions.
No more speculation.
Only truth.
“Father, forgive them…”
— Gospel of Luke 23:34
“It is finished.”
— Gospel of John 19:30
Who is this?
He is:
- The Lamb of God
- The One who takes away the sin of the world
- The One who lays down His life for you
This is love without limit.
Who Is This… for You?
Now the question is no longer for the crowd.
It is for you.
Who is this?
He is:
- The One who knows your past
- The One who sees your pain
- The One who calls you by name
“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Gospel of Matthew 11:28
Final Question
Jerusalem asked it.
The disciples wrestled with it.
The world still asks it.
But now…
👉 Who is He to you?
Because your answer will determine:
- Your faith
- Your hope
- Your future
Closing
Stand before Him today.
Not as part of a crowd…
But as one who has heard the truth.
And answer from your heart:
Who is this?
