Jesus Explosion 2011 – Come Follow Me And I Will Make You Fishers Of Men

altIt is often said that when you labour for the Lord then you should expect to experience hardship.  That being true.  That being true, bearing in mind the difficulties the organizing committee of the Jesus Explosion here in Trinidad experienced, it is no wonder it was such a powerful experience.  There was much food for thought and to nourish the soul over the weekend.  Now we pray that the souls that were fed will in turn go out and be “bread to the nations” and feed others, and so the gift of God’s love and His mercy will be passed on and on and on.

The theme for the weekend was taken from the gospel of Mark, chapter 1, verse 17 – And Jesus said to them, ‘Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.’  Over the course of the weekend, we were all encouraged to become active participants in sharing the Faith and the Good News.

The Friday night session started out with the Holy Rosary, inviting Our Lady to be with us and to intercede for us.  This was followed by the two main talks for the day.  Fr Ian Taylor spoke on the topic “Jesus is alive.”  here he covered scripture that spoke of the presence of Jesus.  He also spoke about Jesus’ real presence in the Holy Eucharist.  In part of his sharing, Fr Ian spoke of Immaculee Ilibaguza of Rwanda, who survived one of the worst genocides in history.  He declared that the fact that she lived to tell the story, and to forgive those responsible for the killing of over one million people to JESUS BEING ALIVE!

The guest speaker for this year’s conference was Fr. Anthony Mario Ozele, and he went into great detail about following Jesus Christ.  Using his chrisma, he ministered to God’s people.  The music for the weekend was provided by G.R.A.C.E Music Ministry, who paved the way and prepared hearts for each session.

We are all familiar with the cliché ‘if a picture paints a thousands words.’  Well may the following videos and photos tell the story of what was an absolutely beautiful and Holy Spirit-Filled weekend.

On the theme “Come Follow me and I will make you fishers of men”, Fr. Ozele preaches on Luke 5: 1 – 11 – the call of the first disciples. He preaches on what “the deep” represents in our Catholic and Christian living, and why as bearers of the Good News, we must go into the deep.

Fr. Ozele elaborates on verse 11, “Then bringing their boats back to land, they left everything and followed Him. For one who is serious about following Jesus, for one who is serious about the Catholic and Christian journey, this is a sharing that you must hear, one that will help you on your journey.

A children monologue on following ‘De Leader’, Jesus Christ in our world today. This Christian monologue was written in Trini lingual by Julie Jennings-Chan and features Rhesa and Natalia Chan.  This can be described as one of those monologues for kids as it warn them of the dangers of following the wrong leader. So do enjoy this dramatic monologue presentation “Follow De Leader”

Fr Ian Taylor shares on the Holy Eucharist and its importance in our lives.  In his sharing, he also covers some of the teachings of the Catholic Church on the Eucharist as the real presence of Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Fr. Taylor also shares some real and true examples and stories on the power of the Holy Eucharist.
