Pope Francis Pays Tribute To Nelson Mandela

Pope Francis expressed his condolences on the passing of former South Africa President Nelson Mandela. he did so in a telegram to President Jacob Zuma of South Africa.

I send out prayerful condolences to all of the Mandela family, to the members of the government and to all of South Africa.”.

The Holy Father – Pope Francis – paid tribute the former South African head of state, who was more affectionately known by his tribal name as ‘Madiba’.

Recalling Mandela’s successes in promoting equality and the human dignity of all South African’s, the Pope expressed his hope that his example will “inspire generations of South Africans to put justice and the common good at the center of their political goals.”.

Concluding his telegram, the Holy Father called down the “divine gifts of peace and prosperity” to the people of South Africa.

Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday at the age of 95 after fighting wellness problems for a number of years. He was born in 1918.
