A Letter to Young People: Why Believing in God is the Right Thing to Do

Dear young people,

I’m writing to you today to talk about the importance of believing in God and ordering your lives in accordance with this belief. I know that life can be tough and it’s natural to feel lost or uncertain about the future at times. But I believe that belief in God can provide a sense of purpose, direction, and meaning in life that is hard to find in other places.

Believing in God is a personal decision. But for those who do believe, their lives have been transformed far beyond their wildest dreams. It’s about more than just a set of beliefs or ideas; it’s about living a life that is guided by those beliefs and striving to be the best version of yourself that you can be. It is about opening wide your heart to God and entering into relationship with Him. It is about allowing God to love you in ways you have never experienced.

Here are a few reasons why believing in God and ordering your life in accordance with this belief is the single most important thing you can ever do:

  1. Belief in God will provide a sense of purpose and meaning. As a young person, it’s common to feel lost or uncertain about the future. When you seek to believe in God, your life will have a sense of direction and a sense of purpose.
  2. Believing in God will provide a moral compass for your life. It can be easy to get caught up in peer pressure or the desire to fit in, but belief in God can provide a strong foundation for making ethical decisions. An integral part of believing in God is the knowledge that HE Loves You! Trust me! There is nothing greater than knowing this!
  3. Belief in God can bring a sense of hope and comfort. Life can be tough – especially these days with all that’s happening all around us. It’s natural to feel worried or anxious at times. Belief in God can provide a sense of hope and comfort during difficult times such as these.
  4. Believing in God will inspire you to be the best version of yourself, and become a leader in God’s army, rather than being led by the “masses”. When you believe in God, who is infinitely greater than all of us combined, you will be inspired to strive for excellence and to make a positive impact in the world. St. Catherine of Sienna (one of my favorite saints) once said, “Be who God meant you to be, and set the world on fire.”
  5. Believing in God can bring a sense of community and belonging. Countless other young persons like yourself find a great sense of community and belonging through their faith, and this can be especially important as you navigate the challenges of growing into adulthood.

I hope that this letter has convinced you, my dear young friend, of the importance of believing in God and living your life in accordance with this belief – in accordance with His purpose for you. I’d really love to hear from you as you strive to live the life that God has for you.

Sincerely
