The Seeds Of Sacrifice Must Be Lifted Up And Die

In the bustling streets of Jerusalem,
Amidst the chatter and the throngs,
A group of Greeks approach Philip,
Their hearts eager to belong.

“We wish to see Jesus,” they declare,
Their souls hungering for truth,
And Philip, with a heart of care,
Brings them to the One who soothes.

As Jesus hears of their request,
His spirit is stirred within,
For He knows His time is near,
To fulfill the Father’s plan, to begin.

“The hour has come,” He solemnly says,
“The Son of Man will be glorified,
But first, like a seed that falls to the ground,
I must be lifted up and die.”

For Jesus knows His purpose clear,
To bring salvation to all mankind,
Through His death, the pathway’s cleared,
For eternal life, all hearts to find.

Yet, in the face of His impending fate,
He does not falter nor despair,
But speaks of glory and of grace,
Of triumph over death’s dark lair.

“My soul is troubled,” He admits,
Yet, obedient to the Father’s will,
He faces the cross with steadfast grit,
His love for us, unyielding still.

As the crowds listen to His words,
Some believe and are filled with awe,
While others question and are stirred,
By the mystery of the One they saw.

But Jesus, undeterred by doubt,
Continues to proclaim the truth,
For He knows His sacrifice will sprout,
Seeds of faith in every heart, uncouth.

So let us, like those Greeks of old,
Seek Jesus with earnest desire,
And in His sacrifice, may we behold,
The hope that lifts us higher and higher.

For in His death, we find new birth,
In His resurrection, we find our worth,
And in His love, we find our home,
Forevermore, in Him alone.
