Total Out Pouring – Fragrance Of Devotion

In the house of Simon the leper,
Amidst whispers of doubt and disdain,
A woman approaches, her heart a fervent keeper,
With an alabaster jar, her treasure to maintain.

She breaks the seal, the scent of nard fills the air,
A fragrance of devotion, a symphony rare,
She pours it out upon his head,
Anointing him with love, no words left unsaid.

But murmurs arise, voices of scorn,
“Why this waste?” they lament, their judgment born,
Three hundred denarii, they argue, could feed the poor,
Yet she pours out her all, her heart’s sacred lure.

But Jesus speaks, his voice serene,
“Leave her alone,” he declares, his words keen,
“What she has done is a beautiful thing,
An act of love, her offering to bring.”

For in her act of pouring out,
She foreshadows his death, removes all doubt,
Her love, a fragrant memory to remain,
Embedded in history, an eternal refrain.

So let us learn from this woman unnamed,
To pour out our lives, unashamed,
In acts of love, in deeds so bold,
May our stories of devotion forever be told.

For in the pouring out, we find our true worth,
In the giving of ourselves, we inherit the earth.
So let us pour out love, without restraint,
And in doing so, may we find our true saint.
