Jesus – God’s Gift in Time’s Fullness

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman… (Gal 4-5). This is “the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God” (Mk 1:1) by which God has acted for us beyond all expectation.

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth, born of Mary at Bethlehem, who died on the cross in Jerusalem under Pontius Pilate, is the eternal Son of God made man. He “came from God” (Jn 13:3), “descended from heaven” (Jn 3:13), and is the “Word made flesh who dwelt among us. We have seen his glory as of the only Son from the Father” and from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace (Jn 1:14-16).

Jesus made Peter the rock of his Church because he confessed, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Mt 16:16).
