Joseph: A Man of Faith

In the lineage of David, a humble man arose,
Joseph, son of Jacob, a carpenter by trade,
His heart filled with love, his spirit composed,
Chosen by God, to be Mary’s faithful aid.

Before they came together, a dilemma arose,
Mary, his betrothed, found with child,
His righteous heart pondered, his mercy chose,
To quietly divorce her, gentle and mild.

But in the stillness of night, an angel appeared,
“Joseph, son of David,” the heavenly voice proclaimed,
“Do not fear, take Mary as your wife, do not be veered,
For the child within her is divinely ordained.”

Joseph, obedient, obeyed the divine decree,
Took Mary as his wife, despite the world’s scorn,
He protected her honor, with unwavering loyalty,
A man of integrity, from dusk until morn.

As they journeyed to Bethlehem, a star shone bright,
Guiding them to a stable, humble and low,
There, in a manger, amidst the silent night,
Jesus, the Savior, was born, to bestow.

In a dream, an angel warned of Herod’s cruel plot,
To slay the infant King, with malice and hate,
“Take the child, flee to Egypt,” the angel taught,
Joseph, protector, fled, before it was too late.

Through the desert they wandered, a family in flight,
Seeking refuge in Egypt, a land unknown,
Joseph, the guardian, in the darkness of night,
Led his beloved Mary, to safety, alone.

In time, the threat passed, the angel appeared again,
“Return to the land of Israel, for Herod is no more,”
Joseph, obedient, heeded the divine refrain,
And brought his family home, to their native shore.

But fear lingered still, for Herod’s son ruled the land,
So Joseph, discerning, led them to Galilee’s embrace,
To the town of Nazareth, where destiny planned,
The Savior of the world, to grow in love and grace.

Joseph, silent guardian, model of faith,
In his hands, he cradled the Son of God,
With each step, he followed the divine wraith,
Guided by love, on the path that He trod.

Let us learn from Joseph, in faith to abide,
To trust in God’s plan, whatever may come,
In his example, may we faithfully confide,
And journey with courage, until our journey is done.
