Dining with the Divine: The Eucharistic Invitation

In the still of the night, a whisper so sweet,
A beckoning call, for our hearts to meet.
A feast in the heavens, a table so grand,
Yet we turn away, don’t we understand?

The banquet is spread, the wine and the bread,
A heavenly invitation, on which we’re led.
But we hesitate, we falter, we doubt,
Ignoring the call, we wander about.

Oh, the grace that’s extended, the love so divine,
In the Holy Eucharist, a sacred design.
Yet we’re too busy, too caught in the chase,
To heed the Lord’s call, to seek His embrace.

He says, “Come, all who are weary, take rest,
In the Eucharistic banquet, you’ll be blessed.
I offer you solace, I offer you peace,
But you must accept, let your doubting cease.”

“Return, faithless people,” God’s plea so sincere,
His arms open wide, He’s always near.
In our waywardness, we often decline,
The Lord’s invitation, His love so divine.

In the Eucharist’s mystery, His presence we find,
But how many times do we leave it behind?
The invitation lingers, a constant refrain,
Yet we ignore it, causing ourselves pain.

Let us pause, let us listen, to God’s tender plea,
To the banquet of grace, to the feast so free.
For in the Eucharist, His love is revealed,
A promise of solace, a presence concealed.

May we accept His call, to the heavenly table,
Let doubt and distraction no longer disable.
In the Eucharistic banquet, His love we’ll receive,
If we but respond and in faith, believe.
