Seeing God's Plan in Christ - Faith In Christ Jesus

Catechesis must "reveal the whole purpose of God's design in the Person of Christ. Catechesis must put people in union with Christ, who alone "can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit" (Second Vatican Council).

Everything in catechesis must be taught in reference to Christ. The catechist must say: "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me" (Jn 7:16). The catechist must seek "the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus Christ" (Phil 3:8).

This faith in Jesus Christ will be explained according to four parts:

  1. The titles of Christ

  2. His Incarnation

  3. His Paschal Mystery

  4. His Glorification

YEAR OF FAITH CORNER

At the Last Supper with his apostles on the eve of his passion Jesus anticipated, that is, both symbolized his free self-offering and made it really present: “This is my Body which is given for you” (Luke 22:19), “This is my Blood which is poured out...” (Matthew 26:28) Thus he both instituted the Eucharist as the “memorial” (1 Corinthians 11:25) of his sacrifice and instituted his apostles as priests of the new covenant. Reverence For Mass

We are losing that sense of reverence for the Holy Eucharist by the way we rush in and out of Mass, the way we dress for Mass, the use of cell phones during Mass, among other things. Do you agree?
