Can There Be More Than One God?

The Catholic Church teaches that there cannot be more than one god.  This will contradict who God is.  By definition, GOD is THE SUPREME BEING, then there can be no other besides Him since there cannot be two or more 'supreme beings'.  That will be a contradiction.
