Is The Catholic Church The True Christian Church?

With thousands of Christian denominations all over the place how do we know that the catholic church is in fact the true Christian church?

This is a historical fact that  even an atheist can confirm.

In Matthew 16: 13-20, when Jesus asked his disciples who do people say I am, amidst all the responses that were given it was Simon Peter who spoke up and said, “You are the Christ the Son of the Living God.” Then Jesus replied, “Simon son of Jonah, you are a happy man! Because it is not flesh and blood that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. So I now say to you you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church. And the gates of the underworld can never hold out against it.”  Pay attention to the declaration made by Jesus.  Now back in Jesus’ time, a person’s name carried their mission and purpose in life; and Jesus, who has all power and authority in heaven and on earth, spoke a word to Simon.  He proclaimed, “So I now say to you you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church!”  The name Peter means rock.  So Jesus was declaring Simon’s new mission and purpose for living. Simon Peter did in fact go on to become the first pope of the holy Roman Catholic Church.

This next scripture passage is even more compelling than the first. It is after Jesus had been crucified and rose triumphantly from the grave. Jesus appeared to the 11 disciples and it said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore make disciples of all nations; baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And you know that I am with you always; yes to the end of time.”  This was Jesus commissioning the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Note the language that was used. It is like a relay race in the Olympics except in this instance, Jesus ran the first leg – and what a first leg He ran!  He is now handling the baton over to this group of men, the Church to continue running the race.  It does not end there!  Jesus promised that group, that Church that He will be with them always, yes until the end of time!.  That group formed the Catholic Church.. You can read more about the early Church in Acts Of The Apostles and other books of the New Testament.

This my friend was the beginning of the holy Roman Catholic Church that started some 2000 plus years ago. This Catholic Church is still very much alive in spite of many challenges and obstacles, and still continues its mission that Jesus gave to it, that is to baptize and teach them teach the world observe his commandments.  When one takes an honest view of the world, one cannot help but be filled with gratitude towards the ‘organization’ that stands firm, amidst all the confusion and consistently teaches the truth, in love and without fair or favor.  The Holy Roman Catholic Church is that ‘Organization.’

God Bless You.
